HomeLost Project
CREATING QUILTS AND RAISING AWARENESS
ABOUT
The HomeLost Project was started by Annie and Griffin because they wanted to do something to help the homeless in Pittsburgh. In 2011, when they were in 2nd grade, they each started thinking about how to help the homeless. Annie and Griffin's parents arranged for them to meet with Adrienne Walnoha, the executive director of Community Human Services. At that meeting, the girls shared their ideas about how to help and decided to turn gently used t-shirts into quilts for the homeless. The HomeLost project was born!
WHAT WE DO
-
Collect donations of gently used t-shirts
-
Cut, pin, and sew t-shirt squares into quilts
-
Distribute t-shirt quilts to people living in a housing transition
-
Raise awareness
-
Have fun!
WHY WE CARE
There are over 1,500 people in Pittsburgh who are living in a housing crisis. Many of the individuals are women and children. We want to make sure that people know about this problem and that we all do something to help. The quilts are a gift that can keep them warm.
